$2,000 REWARD:
Find Cinnamon the Lost Horse

Mt. Washington Wilderness, OR

Cinnamon in his tack

Cinnamon, a 24-yr-old gelding, in the tack he was wearing when he disappeared on August 4, 2025

I will offer up to $2,000 for:

  • His safe return
  • Information leading to his safe return
  • If he is found deceased, photos and GPS coordinates of his remains.

Missing since August 4th, 2025 after he bolted from Benson Lake in the Mt. Washington wilderness in Central Oregon. There are so many things I still wanted to show him. I would do anything to bring him home or to find closure. He is a retired lesson horse that meant the world to so many people, and he is very loved and dearly missed. No new signs of him have been found since August 8th. I am devastated everyday and am desperate for closure.

Winter is arriving in the Cascades, and I wanted to spread the world another time before winter comes. If by some miracle he has been found and kept by someone, I would be more than happy to negotiate his return. Cinnamon is very loved and very missed.

Cinnamon bolted with his tack still attached. While his lead rope and bridle have been found, his halter, saddle, saddle pad, and saddle bag could still be on and have gotten stuck on something.

Frequently asked questions:

  • Has the forest service/SAR/sherrif’s office been contacted?
Yes. All local authorities are aware of Cinnamon's situation, including the USFS and the Linn and Lane county sheriff departments.
  • Have you used drones?
Yes, this has already been done, exhaustively, to the extent allowed by law.
  • Have you had trackers come out to the spot?
Yes! We have had multiple trackers come to his last known location. The area around the Cinna Pond (shown on the map) does not preserve tracks well and nothing was found despite numerous attempts and line searches. However, if you would like to give it a try despite the oncoming winter, please let me know!
  • Have you contacted Mustangs to the Rescue?
Yes. Kate Beardsley is a saint and I am beyond grateful for the help and resources she was able to provide.
  • What about search dogs?
We have contacted multiple search dog groups to ask if they can help; none have responded. We invite any assistance with this.
  • Is this area accessible?
Yes, when McKenzie Hwy 242 is closed, the area is still accessible via the Robinson Lake trailhead and Tenas Lakes trailhead off Hwy 126.
